Safety first

While the Duchess of Windsor Wallis Simpson once said you could never be too rich or too thin, at Heritage Line, we believe you can never be too safe or too well-trained. As part of our continual efforts to train and develop our staff, from October 18th to November 3rd we held an in-depth Safety Training Course for the crew of The Jahan.

Stretching 70 meters from bow to stern, The Jahan plies the waters of the Mekong Delta. Designed to evoke the opulence of India in the British Colonial era, The Jahan features 26 beautifully-designed cabins on two decks. This luxurious boat has a crew of 38, all of whom attended our recent Safety Training Course.

Hosting the course was Australian Captain Jody Atterton, a native of Port Lincoln in South Australia. Born and raised in a family of mariners, he brought a wealth of experience to the safety review and training. Following a two-day audit and four days spent reviewing the ship’s emergency Safety Operation Plans, Captain Jody ran a comprehensive 10-day training course during which the crew reviewed everything from fire drills to search and rescue to emergency radio techniques. Having refreshed their knowledge and passed all of the tests, The Jahan’s crew members can feel confident that their safety know-how meets now international standards. With world-class facilities and expertly-trained crews, Heritage Line is proud to offer travel experiences that are memorable for all the right reasons in all the right places.
